Machine works very well. the digital number might say 70% humidity, but a good digital hygrometer says 55 thats 1 problem. Originally we had it hooked up with an el- cheapo black narrow hose with brass fitting from lowes , the bucket filled up very quickly, as the brass hose fitting made a leaky connection to the male threaded plastic fitting in the dehumidifier. I replaced the black plastic hose with a thicker pale green garden hose that had a plastic knurled nut that had to be cut down and modified to fit through the small hole to access the male threaded plastic fitting inside the dehumidifier. this is a small peeve of mine. the green garden hose empties into the drain hole in the basement. The bucket kept filling up, when using the small cheap black plastic hose. Overall the machine works very well so far . We also spent some considerable labour in waterproofing a 28 ft section of concrete basement wall. This brought our humidity down from 75-80% to a reasonable 50. Another peeve is the filter light comes on once a week, even though it looks good , it must be cleaned.

I bought this item (Soleus air DP1-70-30) Spring 1910. I does dehumidify but it creates a tremendous amount of heat in my basement. That's OK in winter but not in summer. It also has what I consider to be a design flaw. When using the drain hose, the bucket should no longer fill up, but it does. The drain hose works, but condemsate continues to drip into the bucket. This is happening apparently because the condenser element is located too close to the plastic case directly above the bucket. Then the case gets very cold and acts as a condenser. Eventually the bucket fills even with the hose hooked up. Definitely a disadvantage. |
Works and is quiet.

After having the basement newly remodeled, needed a dehumidifier to keep it looking nice. Searched at many different sites and looked at multiple review sites as well. This one seemed to be rated well. 1st day I had to empty the bucket 3 times, then the next day only twice and now only once daily. Haven't had any difficulties at all after having this for about 1 month. Am planning to add on the hose to the attachment when I get a chance, but emptying the bucket isn't that big of a deal.
Dead in less than a year.

The only reason I give this dehumidifier two stars is because it worked great for the first several months I owned it. In hindsight, I'm sure it stopped working before the warranty (1 yr) ran out but I wasn't sure because it is an area that is little used and it is hooked up to drain directly into our septic system. For comparison, I have a small crappy dehumidifier in my basement that worked well for over 10 YEARS. I now have to buy another dehumidifier in my shop and I won't be buying a Soleus. I went purely on Amazon rating. I guess the ratings don't always get it right.

We have had this unit a little over a month now dehumidifying the basement which is open and about 1200 sq. ft. We are using a hose drain direct to the sump pump well. Running the fan on high, the unit holds the basement to 42-45% humidity as desired but has to be set at 55% on the digital control to achieve this result. It seems to be able to hold this humidity level whether we are running the central A/C or not. It will shut down when it gets the humidity to the lower end of the desired range and reads 50% on the digital control when it shuts down. Probably deserves 4 1/2 stars if that were possible as we are, overall, very pleased.
