Purchased new from Amazon Feb 2009.Didnt use it until May 2009.Ran great for a whole 2 months. In August Dehumidistat started acting up reading 20% then 85%.Would either run nonstop or shut down for days.I called Soleus customer Service.after trying to convince me that THIS was normal.I told them I am in the Air Conditioning business and have several expensive meters that were telling me otherwise. They agreed to take back (cost me $60.00 to ship)One month later and a basement smelling like mold my replacement unit arrived.Ran unit for two months then shut off for season.
May 2010 started back up.Ran great for two months July same problem, humidistat 25% then jumps to 50%.Called customer Service they informed me I have no warranty since original unit purchased Feb.2009
So now 18 months two units and $60.00 in shipping later i am out of luck. Was promised manager would call me never happened ,I sent e-mails they deleted without reading. Our company has over 30,000 customers and I plan on passing along the word to stay clear of this unit and the soleus brand |
Bought 2 of these and a year later only 1 stills works!

I purchased two units in 2009 and only one is still in working condition.
The first one to break (compressor oil was visible in the water discharge tube) I returned to Soleus Air via their warranty policy. However, the replacement unit they sent broke not two months later, and because I was beyond the warranty period of original unit, I could not get a new replacement. Also, policy does not provide a replacement for the replacement. :-(
I'm crossing my fingers that the current one keeps performing.
It's a shame because these units work well when they're not broken!
To Soleus Air: Any way for you to improve the product? Seems the compressors you use in your dehumidier manufacture are crap! If I spend [...] or a basement dehumidier I would expect at least 3 years of reliable service. |
Stopped working after three months - poor customer service response

Similar to the other 1 star reviews, my unit quit working after one season (approx. 3 months of use). When I took it out to use this past summer, it did not work. I purchased it in early June 2009 and used it last summer. When starting it up this summer (June 2010), it did not work. It was just past the 12 month warranty period.
I contacted customer service and while they were fairly cordial, the response was "sorry, nothing we can do. You have to take it into an A/C repair shop".
I also wrote a letter to the president of the company, but have never received a response.
So basically, I spent more than $200 on a unit that lasted three months, and would have to spend another $100 to maybe get it to work again.
I would not recommend this company nor their products. |
It works

I have had a smaller soleus for over 5 years that has been great and a big improvement over the loud Whirlpools that broke after a couple of years.
This is a bigger more industrial version that I use in the basement. It is much louder than the other soleus, but it is a white noise sound that is not obnoxious if you're not right next to it.
The ability to set humidity level digitally is nice. |
Worked fine until it passed one year mark! Lousy customer serivice

| We had it for 13 months and it quit, just when the warranty ran out. We tried calling their customer service but they would not pick up the phone. We called several times a day, emailed, but we did not get any help. I did not expect paying over $200+ just for it to work within a year. In fact, it was working less than a year as I didn't turn it on in the summer, only during the rain season which is rare in non-coastal Northern California. |
